KT Tunstall returns with Tiger Suit new album (well not quite yet)

June 16, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

KT Tunstall will release her third album Tiger Suit on September 28th, which she recorded in the same Berlin studio as U2′s Achtung Baby twenty years earlier. Tunstall’s new album follows her first two releases, Eye To The Telescope which first put her ont the map and the chart topping Drastic Fantastic. Her new album is produced by Jim Abbiss and is said to be along the lines of “Nature Techno” (we don’t know what that means either, but we’re looking forward to hearing it). While KT Tunstall fans will have to wait a few months for Tiger Suit’s release, she is performing a pair of intimate solo shows in the mean time, on July 13th at the Hiro Ballroom in New York City and onJuly 15th at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.

KT Tunstall has a special place in Beatweek history, as she was the first female artist to appear on our cover, gracing the cover of Beatweek Magazine issue #4 all the way back in early 2008.

Colbie Caillat is back in studio working on third album

Grammy winning singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat has revealed via Twitter that she’s back in the studio working on her third album, after having released her sophomore effort Breakthrough last August and an iTunes Session earlier this year. Work on Colbie’s third album comes even as current single I Never Told You is in heavy rotation on radio and on VH1. The singer, who turned twenty-five over the weekend, has shared few specifics thus far beyond the fact that she’s doing some studio work with Greg Wells, who produced portions of Breakthrough including the song “Fearless” which Caillat told Beatweek back in December that she was hoping to release as a single.

Of the song that Colbie has been working on with Wells, she says “weird to me that you all won’t hear this song till this fall or winter.”

Earlier this year Colbie won a pair of Grammy awards for her collaborations with Taylor Swift and Jason Mraz. She was also nominated for her album Breakthrough, which she discussed with Beatweek in detail when it was first released.

Maroon 5, the quintet who’ve racked a score of hit singles from their first two albums, have announced the title and release date for their third record. Hands All Over will hit streets on September 21st and is being produced by veteran rock producer Mutt Lange, perhaps best known for his work with Def Leppard and AC/DC. That’s a long time for fans to wait, but in the mean time the new album’s first single (not yet identified by name) will hit radio on June 28th and Maroon 5 will hit the road on July 30th, with tickets going on sale this week.

According to Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, “We didn’t even talk to anyone else” when it came to choosing Lange as their producer for Hands All Over (which we’ll go ahead and assume has no connection to the early classic Soundgarden song of the same name). Song titles for Hands All Over include the title track, the country tinged Out of Goodbyes which features vocals from Lady Antebellum. the funky Misery, Stutter, Give A Little More, and Don’t Know Much About That.

Maroon 5′s tour mates will at various times include Owl City, Guster, Kris Allen, VV Brown and Ry Cuming. Full list of dates at maroon5.com.

Previous hits from Maroon 5 include Makes Me Wonder, This Love, and Harder To Breathe.
