Jamie Lynn Noon interview

You’ve said that you consider yourself a songwriter first and foremost. When did you first start writing songs?

I began writing songs in my mid-teens… One of the first songs I wrote was “I’m Trying”, which I recorded for my debut EP, A Moment to Break. It’s one of my first memories of seeing and hearing what I had written come to life.

How has growing up in the bay area influenced you musically?

Growing up in the Bay Area has certainly opened me up to an array of music and artists… More so, it has definitely influenced who I am as a person, which is so tied into my music and writing. I come from a relatively small suburb of the San Francisco Bay Area– I spent days with my ears locked to a headset or stereo. In this way, I was more inclined to listen to an eclectic mix of music.

As an independent artist, how have you managed to leverage the social networking sites in your favor?

Social networking sites have helped me tremendously as an independent artist. There is no other way I would be able to reach fans and listeners if it were not for sites like Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. One of the most important aspects of being an independent artist, I believe, is communicating with friends and fans continually– these sites have and continue to help me in doing that each and every day!

What can you tell us about your ‘Til Ya Make It organization?

I founded the ‘Til Ya Make It organization with the anticipation of creating a refuge for people to come together and share their stories and to provide them a network of hope and support… I named the organization after my song, “‘Til Ya Make It”, which I wrote in 2004 and will plan to rerelease in the future. It was inspired by those who found inspiration in the song.

Now that your debut EP “A Moment To Break” is out the door, what are working on next?

I am working on a follow up EP at the moment… And anticipating a late summer release!
