Twitter for iPhone, the official new app from Twitter itself, has debuted in the App Store. While the logo and the name are new, the company isn’t trying to hide the fact that the app is really just a new version of recently acquired Tweetie for iPhone, as Twitter for iPhone has debuted at version 3.0 in keeping with Tweetie’s original lineage. Twitter boats of new features which range from a revamped search to easier retweeting. We’re diving into the app right now to get the scoop, which is in fact free of charge, as promised. The app is also designed for iPod touch. While it’s iPad compatible, it’s not iPad optimized, although Tweetie developer Loren Brichter has previously stated that an official “Twitter for iPad” is also on its way eventually. Here’s the iTunes App Store link for Twitter for iPhone.
Best we can tell, Tweetie 2 is gone from the App Store, as expected.
