Hyper CameraMator: Beatweek Best of Show 2013 at CES

January 8, 2013   by

After figuring out how to connect external hard drives wirelessly to smartphones and tablets, Hyper has moved on to the task of wirelessly connecting digital cameras in the same manner. The CameraMator attaches to your Nikon or Canon camera, turns it into a Wi-Fi device, and allows it to talk remotely to a device like the iPad or iPhone. This allows you to control your camera remotely from across the room or even in the next room, both in terms of taking pictures and downloading them.

This requires the CameraMator to come with a few gigs of its own internal storage, along with its own rechargeable battery, so it ends up being a rather pricey $299 product. But for those who are serious enough about digital photography that they still want to own a separate camera in this age of smartphone camera pictures, it’s a tantalizing option – and also a very unique innovation.
