IK Multimedia iLoud bluetooth wireless portable speaker: Review

Some portable speakers are known for being thin, light, or svelte. The iLoud from IK Multimedia is known for, well, its loudness. It’s the kind of portable bluetooth speaker whose audio power is more typically reserved for desktop systems, but here it’s packed into a mid sized single-unit design with a ten hour battery life.

iLoud isn’t the kind of speaker you’d travel with for the purpose of using alone in a hotel room; it’s the kind of speaker you’d use if you’re hosting a party in a hotel room – and don’t care who you wake up. The volume can be cranked up loudly enough to fill a large hall without losing audio fidelity, and that alone makes it stand out.

Because IK Multimedia is best known for connecting musical instruments to technology devices, the iLoud comes with a port which allows musicians to plug in the company’s iRig to that end. But iLoud is just as suitable for non musicians who simply want to pair it up with a device like an iPhone and let the volume rip.
