Red Hot Chili Peppers do Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie for new album
July 13, 2011 by Beatweek
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are taking one step closer to the release of their new album I’m With You by announcing that their first single is entitled The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie and that you’ll be able to hear it in the mysterious “coming soon” range. The band has cooked up a Facebook event page to mark the launch, and it’s pegged as running from July 18th to August 30th (the latter being the official release date of the album), which gives away the fact that we’ll get to hear the trippily-titled song as soon as this Monday.
Beyond its title and now the name of its lead single, not all that much is known about the upcoming Chili Peppers record. Founders Anthony Keidis and Flea, along with longtime drummer Chad Smith (of “I’m not Will Ferrell” fame) have teamed up in the studio with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer for the first time, following the (second) departure of guitarist John Frusciante. Klinghoffer had already been touring with the Chilis as a second live guitarist and is a longtime musical collaborator of Frusciante, which offers hope for continuity for the new record after the band’s last three records helped put them back atop the rock world after first finding mainstream success in the early 1990′s.
The string of hits from the Red Hot Chili Peppers over the past two-plus decades is too long to fully list, but includes recent hits like Dani California, Tell Me Baby, By The Way, and Can’t Stop, along with classic hits like Under The Bridge, Give It Away, Suck My Kiss, and the list goes on. Here’s more on the new Chili Peppers album.
