Guitar Hero cancelled, 25 million fewer people think they know guitar
February 9, 2011 by Beatweek
The days of pressing four buttons and pretending you’re a guitar player are over. Activision has announced that its long popular game Guitar Hero is a goner, as public interest in guitar-faking games has apparently faded since the original Guitar Hero was released in 2005. The game, in which players used a guitar-shaped four button video game controller to “play” songs without requiring any actual guitar skills, opened up interest in guitar-driven gaming to those whose musical skills were limited. But with interest having fallen off of late, it appears that Guitar Hero and other games like it were a fad after all (who saw that coming?), and the once-popular title’s cancellation means that there are now twenty-five million fewer people out there who mistakenly think they know how to play the guitar.
