Bush song “Afterlife” sounds just like 2010-era Bush should sound like

July 3, 2010   by

The new Bush single “Afterlife” won’t hit iTunes for another ten days, but Gavin Rossdale and the gang have posted a streaming version of the song to their website – which you have to log into with your Facebook account to hear. But fans of the band may find doing so to be well worth it, as Afterlife is instantly recognizable as being a Bush, but like Rossdale’s 2008 solo project, sounds like it belongs in the current century. Afterlife is also instantly catchy enough that it’s almost certain to become a major radio hit, no small feat for a band that packed it in nearly a decade ago. Bush’s reunion, however, is no surprise – Rossdale told Beatweek back in 2008 that his solo project was originally intended to be a Bush reunion album. If you want to hear Afterlife right now on Bush’s official website, it’s right here.

That Bush Facebook app wants access to an awful lot of information, just to play a song. I'll pass. No song is so good that you have to sell your soul to hear it ahead of time. Sorry, Bush – I love ya, but you're asking for too much and it's uncalled-for.

This new song sounds nothing like Bush, it's horribly disappointing. It sounds like any other crappy pop song you would hear on the radio.

I am really loving Afterlife! I agree,I think it has great potential for becoming a radio hit-already,it was the most-added song to Modern Rock radio this week.

In my opinion, the facebook app isn't asking for too much, but another way to hear the song is via KROQ's website:

i'm a huge bush fan, i even have one of their songs tattooed on my leg but i'm awfully disappointed…this song is no way bush. seems more like a Gavin Rossdale solo song and – sad to say that – seems they are desperate to hit again (which won't happen if they choose to work like this). Gavin used to create awesome lyrics but, let's face it: Nigel was the brain behind the catchy riffs and melodies. Gavin, a piece of advice: if you really wanna hit again, make something heavier, with less computer and effects involved. Try to please your old fans in order to get new ones. I'm sure you can do better!

I love bush no matter what.. Gavin rossdale has an amzing voice and the lyrics that he created are so meaningful, and the band makes great music.
