Robert Pattinson to go from Edward Cullen to Edward Scissorhands?

The Twitterverse is abuzz over the idea being floated that Twilight star Robert Pattinson could take over the titular role in a remake of Edward Scissorhands, a character originally brought to life by Johnny Depp a generation ago. This isn’t the first time that Twitter has been lit up by Pattinson rumors; earlier this year the story was that he was set to portray the late Kurt Cobain in a biopic, which Courtney Love herself quickly shot down. Nor would it be the first time Pattinson would be taking on a character by that name, the first being his Twilight character Edward Cullen, which he’s not yet done portraying with yet more Twilight movies set to hit the big screen. It’s not clear how the “Team Edward” visage would apply to the Edward Scissorhands universe, but a quick sampling of recent tweets on the topic suggests that those old enough to remember the original Scissorhands movie are against the idea of Pattinson taking over the role. No comment from Johnny Depp himself as of yet.
