CSI finale spoiler: Nick Stokes shot, lives, Ray Langston left to die
May 20, 2010 by Beatweek
Spoiler alert: don’t keep reading unless you want to know the results of tonight’s CSI’s season finaleā¦
Okay, still here? The hour was slow in developing in its first half, with most of its first thirty minutes centered around questioning a predictably cryptic jailed serial killer with information about Dr. Jekyll, the investigation of an old abandoned restaurant, and Jim Brass’ anger at the fact that the killer was brought into CSI at all. After giving the killer bribes ranging from a steak dinner to a stripper (we’re not making that up), the episode still didn’t go anywhere until a package arrived which was (not really) sent from Ray Langston’s (Laurence Fishburne) long deceased father. The contents of the package suggested that Dr. Jekyll had as much of an obsession with Dr, Langston as Langston had with him, and allowed the team to begin connecting dots which showed that Jekyll’s various victims did all have more in common than their identities might have originally suggested.
Three quarters of the way through the episode, Dr. Jekyll is revealed to be a restaurant worker who’d never previously been on the show, and after shooting a police officer dead, Jekyll puts a shotgun bullet in the chest of CSI Nick Stokes. The fact that Nick was visibly wearing a vest at the time foreshadowed the fact that he survived, but viewers did get to spend a commercial break wondering if perhaps the show’s writers were even more kill-happy than we had previously been led to believe. Bizarrely, Langston then made more effort to attend to Jekyll’s father than the Stokes, while the jailed killer toys with the dim witted cop who’s left to watch him. But Langston did distract Jekyll long enough that Stokes managed to get ahold of a gun and take Jekyll out. Stokes survives. So does Jekyll’s father, who had no knowledge of what his son had been up to. Brass and Langston make up. End of plotline.
Except Nate Haskell, the jailed serial killer, improbably gets ahold of Langston, injures him badly, and leaves him lying next to the jail cell. Commence cliffhanger. See you in the fall.
Give CSI credit for not trying to pretend that its former characters don’t exist, as the best line of the night was when the jailed serial killer asked what happened to Gil Grissom, referring to him as the bearded unsettled fellow and pretending not to be able to pronounce his name. The second best line of the night also came from the jailed killer, as he finally pointed out what some fans have likely been asking themselves all season: wasn’t Mr. Hyde the killer, and not Mr. Jekyll?

Unless this is the final CSI Vagas Ray(Lawrence Fishbourne) will live due to the police man guarding the prisoner, but there was a lot of blood. Unless Gill Grissom is coming back and Ray was just a fill in for William Petersen to have a break. You never know!!!!!!!

LikeMh. There were some pretty good eps this season and I really love Sara coming and going and telling little pieces about Grissom from time to time. But for me the show has lost its grip. I saw the finale, enjoyed it and then Langston got stabbed and I thought: Ok, it really doesn't matter at all. That's sad. I loved the show so much.

LikeLangston isn't dead--after all, the new name of CSI in season 11 will finally be The Ray Langston Hour! And how did the little guy grab the big guy by the neck and stab him at the same time? OH it was the surprise of the attack! And the stupidity of Langston. This show needs to close the door--Marg, Eric and Jorja are ghosts of their characters. Langston has to be the center of every episode. Eric and Jorja are wasted characters. Sara's line in the first episode about Grissom being in Paris is the stupidest line ever on CSI--maybe on television! WE know Sara loves no one more than Grissom and she leaves him in Paris--that's not only stupid, but treating viewers as if we are dumb-dim-witted fans. (NOT!!)Season 10 has been hard to watch--disjointed, uncomfortable, what the ? stories--Marg looks as if she is ready to bolt faster than a bull out of a chute! Jorja and Eric might as well be playing cards in the break room. George has been given more screen time than season 9, but the stories I remember from CSI have not been in season 9 and 10. Disappointed...

LikeI would appreciate a good mystery from the writers of CSI. During the year they write good stuff, but when it comes to the beginning and ends - it turns junky and unbelievable. Although I didn't expect the 4 eyed con to stab Langston. However, they do need some younger people and some fresh blood on this show. A few guest stars as apprenticing CSIs would help.

LikeI stopped watching when Jorja Fox returned. Never really cared for her character. Watched the season finale. Predictable. The Silence of the Lambs parallels were painfully obvious.

LikeHere's a tip for you. The next time you write an article about a TV show and it contains spoilers you might not want to give away the ending of the show in the article's headline. You ruined the episode for anyone who saw this before they saw the episode.

LikeBill Irwin, who plays Haskell, is a one-time Oberlin Dance Collective dancer who can do anything with his body and made his own mark in the world of live physical comedy with his shows "Largely New York" and "Fool Moon." Turns out he can also do anything with his face; as unsubtle as his sick character is, Irwin's ability to play with the camera is as subtle as it comes. Congratulations on an incredible performance, and we look forward to next season's opener!

LikeThis was an UNBELIEVABLY amazing, but at the same time a little awful, ending to CSI's 10th season. I enjoyed watching it very much, but after it ended, it left me crying for two hours. I am a CRAZY CSI fan. It is ABSOLUTELY my life, and as much as it bothers my friends and family, I feel that CSI is the most important thing in my life. So, having a cliffhanger as severe as there was I have been shaking ALL DAY. Although, I am pretty sure he isn't going to die. This is due to the fact that he signed on for an 11th season. Thanks CBS for giving that information away. It kinda ruined it for me :( But, I LOVED watching it! Be STRONG RAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LikeI'm sorry. Ray Langston is not as popular a character as Nick Stokes is. The fan forums just are NOT buzzing with activity the way they would have been if they'd left Nick's survival in question. And given that it was announced last month that Fishburne has renewed through season 11 while last week we learned that Eads contract is still in negotiation, there was a big opportunity lost for fan involvement. If everyone really cared about Langston, then this would have been a cliff hanger. It's not though.

LikeDr. Langston is one of the most interesting characters to ever be written into this show. And I love the relationship he's developing with Nick... So good. This show is consistently good. Great cliffhanger!

LikeHow can someone sign a contract for ONE season and it have 62 episodes? Where are you getting that stupid, ridiculous number? And BTW, they don't release the number of episodes that ANY of the actors are going to be in, so stop making things up. It would be better if he did die, this show is tanking faster than the Titanic without Grissom - and you all know it.

Like1. um to the amount of episodes lawrence fishburn would be in was leaked to the media2. ray langston is almost simliar if not more interesting than grissom, because grissom always annoyed me with his stupid random facts (ok we get it you like bugs, you're weird!).3. the person never said the 62 episodes were for one season, maybe learn to read?

LikeYou are an angry person with some issues. Just because you sign on the dotted line saying you will do 62 episodes really won't mean he will he may have bought out his contract as he has don enough films to have aquired the cash to pay it (No list needed I'm sure you know) and if you look on IMDB William Petersen has been doing nothing other than having a break since 2009 so mabey time for a comeback Jorga Fox did it! On another thought he may have been sacked.

LikeThe IMDB website stated Langston has 62 episodes. No one forced the Grissom character off the show. He is a producer and can come back any time he wants to. Langston is NOT the problem, it takes more than one character to sink a show!

LikeThe second I saw Nate grab his broken glasses stem, I knew it would be used later. At the end, I was waiting for it, but when it wasn't paid off, I thought it was a hole. Glad they paid it off, even though I like Ray. (He'll be back. We'd have heard if he was leaving.) What I'd like to know about is what up with Sara? She's still here! Shouldn't we see that she and her supposed husband communicate? He's in France, not on Mars. And what about Sara's newfound peace in the jungle? She's given it up? Inquiring minds want to know. BTW, always loved Nick. Glad he was the hero.
