Crystal Bowersox says “no thank you” to American Idol dentist

We would never broach a topic like that of an American Idol contestant’s teeth unless the contestant was the one to bring it up in the first place, but that’s exactly the case with Crystal Bowersox. Even after Idol host Ryan Seacrest apparently insulted Crystal’s teeth earlier this week (a story we didn’t touch at the time, by the way), Bowersox has fired back via Idol’s official blog with “No thank you, New York dentist. I am beautiful exactly the way I am.” Apparently all the contestants were afforded a trip to the dentist at the same time, as fellow contestant Michael Lynche beamed “No cavities!” in a blog posting of his own on the same day.

This wouldn’t have been the first time that an Idol contestant suddenly showed up with better looking teeth in the middle of the competition.
But we can’t recall an instance of having ever allowed a musician’s teeth to play a factor in whether or not to purchase their album, or to influence our enjoyment of said album, so we say good for Crystal.

If she's beautiful with her teeth the way they are, what was she before some teeth fell out? Fact is she's NOT beautiful, nor are her teeth. She looks like a pirate with bad teeth when she tries to smile. But the problem is she's a fake who is trying not to look like a fake by refusing to change certain things. But she's so fake it's pathetic. She said she's never watched AI, but here she is a serious singer, and now suddenly she's a tech savvy person who also twitters, does face book and other things. She claims to have never watched but is an EXPERT at playing the idol game. She's is also very clever and savvy with knowing what to do and not to do on that show to get votes. After a long 9 seasons I”ve learned that contestants with baby's make it twice as far if they continually talk about those kids. She knows to do that. She knows how to promote her self. She puts up this image of a lost person who is clueless of all things idol to create an illusion of innocence and undiscovered talent. But she knows everything inside out like the back of her hand. If it weren't for her old style, lack of relevance, limited vocal range, she's be great. But at this point she's just a phony to me. That along with her staging the whole leaving-the-show boohoo stuff, then twittering about it, along with her baby 2 days after. Then blaming Ryan for the mess. She is phony!

Not sure what has happened to you in your life that has made you so bitter and negative.
I admire Crystal for many reasons. She's not just a good singer (understatement), she's a beautiful, interesting and intelligent person whom I love learning more about. The more I learn about her, the more I admire her. She's come through a rough childhood with dignity and a desire to make a better life for her child. Even if I didn't know all that, I'd STILL love her voice, her style, her music. Also not sure where you're seeing all her “self-promotion.” Not seeing it at all. Haven't seen her talking about her kid except that one audition show very early on… And what does not seeing AI have to do with being tech-savvy?
I hope the rest of your life isn't as sad as this first part, because you've got some issues, and something about Crystal is pushing your buttons. I recommend therapy.

You are basically saying that, by YOUR standards, Crystal is ugly on the outside. Considering your phrasing and choice of words it is obvious, by MOST standards, that you are a really ugly person on the inside.

Crystal,I'am very sure that your parent's taught tou as a young childred ,that people are just plan RUDE !! YES ,you are Beautiful as you are..I just Love you..As my teeth need work to and I can't afford it . As i do have insurance it still is to much right now.As a great mom that I'am sure you are your baby also come first ! Like so many of us, I never had any problems with my teeth till my childred came along…Hang in there Crystal and I'am sure when the time is right you will do what you do need to do, for you when want too…All my Love Cheryl also from Ohio…

OMG I WOULD NEVER NEGLECT MY TEETH. I THINK IS GREAT THAT AMERICAN IDOL LOOKS INTO THIS AND GIVES THE CONTESTANTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THEM CHECKED. I WOULD WASTE NO TIME AND FIX THEM.

cheryl: Crystal does not have to afford it. American Idol would pay for her teeth. So what is the problem. You all are calling her beautiful , gorgeous etc but you can not be all that with no teeth.

Crystal's teeth may just be a cosmetic issue now but just wait awhile. Dentistry is expensive and I am not sure why she doesn't take advantage of the offer of free work. If her teeth look that bad on TV ~ wonder what they look like up close! Would she let her child go with such neglected teeth? Parents need to set a good example. Actions speak much louder than words. Just because she grew up with parents who neglected the dental health of their child doesn't mean she has to neglect her teeth as well. She should definitely tell American Idol that she has changed her mind. Even is she just got them cleaned for goodness sake.

Everyone is beautiful. We are ALL made in HIS image. I am glad she didn't do it. Nothing wrong with being ALL natural. I am not even going to touch your statement,”she's being fake but trying not to look that way by refusing to change certain things.” Whatever. Hollywood is too concerned with looks. I miss the days of raido and I was born in 84. That's saying someing. I guess Video really did Kill the Raio Star.

Oh, and lack of relevance, limited vocal range? Do you even have ears? Tone deaf people who talk about music should just shut up. And of course she is gonna talk about her kid. ALL parents do.

What is wrong with you people. Just because she may be beautiful on the inside the what people think shouldnt matter….it actually does matter when you are in the business she is trying to go into. However, aside from the cosmetic side of what needs to be done to her teeth, they can not possibly be healthy. Why would you refuse free dentist work to prove some kind of point. It seems to me that she doesnt appreciate what is happening to her. Everything from the way she has responded to the judges this year to now refusing free dental work, i just dont think she appreciates shat's going on. Dont get me wrong, i do like to hear her sing, but sometimes when she talks I wish someone would smack some sense into her. By the way, she has a son to think about. What happens in a few years when his friends start joking him because of the way his mother looks. Its not fair to him. Anyway, I wish her a lot of luck with her career, but i still hope Lee wins.
