Conan O’Brien returns to television this Sunday night

April 30, 2010   by

Conan O’Brien won’t get to return to television on a nightly basis until his new late night talk show on TBS launches in November, but the former Tonight Show host – who hasn’t appeared on television in any capacity since being forced out of the show earlier this year less than a year after taking over the reins – will finally surface this Sunday night in an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes. The appearance, which seemingly disproves theories that had NBC barring Conan from showing his face on television at all until September, will include the obligatory discussion about his NBC departure as well as the topic of Jay Leno, who effectively forced Conan out by accepting the opportunity to return to the 11:35pm time slot after bombing at 10pm. In the interview, Conan says that if the roles were reversed, he wouldn’t have done what Leno did, “but that’s me, you know.”

When will Conan realize ...he is not funny and his ratings suck. That is why he is gone.

Conan is awesome. Leno is a douche.

No he wouldn't do that.. But, what about the fact that he forced Leno off in the first place by blackmailing NBC??

How did he "blackmail" NBC exactly?

Jackomanturn, 5 years earlier Conan told NBC he would walk if he wasn't guaranteed The Tonight Show. NBC at the time did its best to keep both of them and negotiated it for 5 years out. When the time came, it didn't work in the ratings. I don't blame Conan and I don't blame NBC for what they all did then (5 years earlier) or now in pushing Conan off and fully paying him off on his contract. It's just business. I liked Conan better, personally. Jay is an idiot onscreen, and Conan was fully paid off and has already signed his TBS deal. Conan showed class in thanking NBC on his last NBC show.In paying Conan off, NBC made Conan stay off the air IN ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES competitive against NBC for six months. That's standard procedure. There never was any prohibition against him appearing on TV anywhere doing an interview. It's just business.
