Twestival LA preview

Twestival is run 100% by volunteers and independently from any not-for-profit; although the organizing teams do work closely to outline an achievable and measurable fundraising target. Twestival also sets out to identify key skills of volunteers and match these with the needs of the cause; particularly communications strategy, tech integration and social media training. Last February, Twestival LA raised close to $20,000 for Charity:Water in just one night with two weeks of planning. The Twestival LA team worked tirelessly, but turned the night into an amazing and unforgettable event. It was a night of music, comedy, and fun. It was also a night of meeting new Twitter friends face to face for the very first time. All in all, the most important part was helping to raise money for Charity:Water to bring clean water to those who need it.



”The 2009 Twestival brought together 202 cities around the world for one cause. Clean and safe drinking water. Led by organizer Amanda Rose, an astonishing $250,000 was raised – 100% of that money going directly to the projects. charity: water staff flew to Ethiopia weeks later to drill the first well, and connect the Twitter community with the people they served.” – Charity:Water



I’m happy to announce that Twestival LA is back again for another event. This time, we’ll be focusing on our local community and raising money to help benefit two organizations — Chrysalis and LA Food Bank. CHRYSALIS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals become self-sufficient through employment opportunities. It currently helps more than 2,000 individuals a year change their lives through jobs. And LA Food Bank’s mission is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in the LA community.


Organizers Jim Alden, Shira Lazar, Daynah, Marla Schulman, and Ben Morrison would like to welcome you to a night of music, comedy, and fun! This will take place Sunday, September 13th, 2009 from 6pm – 12am at the gorgeous venue of Level 3 at Hollywood and Highland. The lovely Suzanne Marques from Fox LA’s Good Day LA will be hosting the event. There will also be a musical performance by Dr. Hollywood and a comedy act by comedian Ben Gleib from “The Real Wedding Crashers.” More performances will be announced shortly.
