MoneyBook app review

Are you looking for a simple yet effective app to help you keep track of your budget? MoneyBook is an app that will do just that.

A stunningly beautiful UI embraces your screen as soon as the app launches, and on the main screen you can see your monthly budget at the top. This monthly budget is easily configurable, either by adjusting the slider (whole dollars only) or inputting your budget manually with the number pad.

Once you’re done putting in your budget, the main screen will show a visual slider of your money and spending (if you’re in the red, you’re in trouble). Each time there is a new expensive, the slider will adjust itself accordingly. On this screen you’ll have your Top Categories in spending as well as Statistics. Top Categories will show you the top three, and Statistics will show the average spending per day.

But do you want to know more info about your categories or average spending? Tapping on either of these areas will bring up a beautiful looking graph that shows you where your money goes.

When you enter an expense, you can do so from the main overview screen or the Expenses screen. Enter in the amount and choose a category, and it will be saved. Do you need more specifics about an expense? No problem, just go to the Expenses tab and all of your expenses will be there in a beautiful interface featuring the realistic look of taped receipts. Tap on an expense and you can add a note to remind yourself of why you spent that money.

The app supports recurring expenses, that will be booked on the first of the month. Currently there is no way to change when these expenses will be booked, but if you don’t like the first of the month system, you can always just do it manually.

The last tab is the History section, which is pretty self-explanatory. You can view all the months in which you’ve been booking your expenses in the app. Want to view a specific month? Just tap it and it will pull up the Expenses list for that month.

This is a great little app that helps you keep track of your money and where it goes. Simple and sleek wrapped in a gorgeous interface that oozes with well thought out design and intuitiveness. I’d highly recommend this app to help you keep track of your budget.

Protip: To add income from paychecks, you can do a negative expense (use the – in the number pad so parentheses appear around the amount) and then it will reflect in the colored slider on the main screen.
