Eton Rukus solar powered stereo: Beatweek 2012 Best of Show at CES

Eton’s solar powered dockable iPhone stereo caught our attention last year for obvious reasons. Now the company is filling out the other side of its lineup with the Rukus, a stereo which is also solar powered but works via bluetooth wireless. Pair it up with your iPhone, iPad, or other bluetooth device, and the Rukus pulls off the novel feat of playing music without a connecting cable while recharging its own battery without a cable.

To our minds, that’s a new definition of portable audio. The Rukus has a handle on top which allows it to be carried like a mini-briefcase, and a large solar panel on one side. It’s expected to sell for $149 and Eton tells us it’s good for six hours of audio playback.
